Faith is something everyone strives to have. Even non-religious people. Some have faith that the Lakers are going to crush everyone this season. Children have faith that Santa won't forget to give them presents this Christmas. Prayer is the way to gain faith in the religious aspect. Prayer is our telephone to Heavenly Father in a sense. We are able to communicate with Heavenly Father all of our worries and joys. My faith grows every time I pray. I have faith that Heavenly Father hears my prayers and will deliver when I need his help and blessings. There have been times in my life when I will not pray for a while. I feel like I'm at at stand still point during those times. As soon as I get into the habit of saying sincere prayers, blessing are poured out upon me and I am able to progress.
During the Saturday Morning Session of General Conference October 2016, Carol F. McConkie gave a talk called "The Soul's Sincere Desire". In this talk she says "Jesus Christ taught with a parable 'that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.' ...Prayer is essential to developing faith. When the Lord comes again, will He find a people who know how to pray in faith and who are prepared to receive salvation?" If you go into many churches, their prayers are repetitive. I'm not saying they have no feeling behind them, because I'm sure many people truly have belief in those prayers, but that maybe they do not know how to truly pray in faith. "We pray to our Heavenly Father and Him only because He is 'God in heaven, who is infinite and eternal, from everlasting to everlasting … , the framer of heaven and earth, and all things which are in them.' ...We pray in the name of Jesus Christ because our salvation is in Christ, and 'there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.' ...We pray by the power of the Holy Ghost because 'he that asketh in the Spirit asketh according to the will of God.' When we pray with faith, the Holy Ghost can guide our thoughts so that our words harmonize with the will of God." Prayers bring happiness and faith. Heavenly Father is always listening and he is there to guide us when our trials get tough.
